A Promise From My Heart
(by Eileen Enarson)
(Feb. 2006, 2 Minutes)
Several months after a plane crash took the life of my husband (March 5, 1959), an accusation was hurled at me from a person empowered by the enemy of my soul. My four children and I had moved away, and were totally dependent on the Lover of our souls for daily provision. There was complete trust, confidence in the love and strength in my heart for my amazing Lord. But this person didn’t see it that way. With a sneer he scoffed, “I suppose you would say you are blindly following the Lord as Abraham did.”
My response to this spiritually impoverished man was: “You have given me one of the greatest compliments of my life, because that is EXACTLY what I am doing! And God is caring for my children and me even better than He did for Elijah, since he was only one, and we are five!
I never saw my accuser again, but I can attest to the fact of my Father’s unwavering care for me and mine. Tenderly. Adequately! I LOVE being in the hollow of my Savior’s nail-pierced hands!
And I meant it when I sang to Him, as tears were streaming down my cheeks, and my throat constricted with the emotion I was experiencing with the intent to make that move away from my “comfort zone.” The church family who cared so dearly for us. The promise from my heart to my Lord was: “I’ll go where You want me to go, dear Lord; over mountain, or plain, or sea; I’ll say what You want me to say, dear Lord; I’ll be what You want me to be!”
Going to Pakistan last year was simply a continuation of my blessed Redeemer enabling me to follow through with my commitment to Him. I sincerely concur with Simon Peter who wrote: “You have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love.” ( No “strings attached!”) Praise His matchless Name!!!
